Idaho Diabetes Youth Programs, Inc., dba Camp Hodia, a non-profit organization that sponsors camps and programs for youth, ages 3 to 19, with type 1 diabetes, regardless of their ability to pay. Their programs are designed to foster self-reliance, education and inspiration through healthy self-management of type 1 diabetes.
The children who attend Camp Hodia have fun and build lifelong friendships while learning they are not alone with having diabetes. They benefit tremendously in so many ways; they learn that they are normal and having diabetes doesn’t limit them from anything they may run into in life, they learn how to balance their diabetes care with a variety of life scenarios, activities and adventures and so much more.
All of their staff volunteer their time, knowledge and love for the kids they serve. All of their staff also have type 1 diabetes and/or are trained in the diabetes field.
Hodia camps are accredited by the American Camping Association and their staff have incredible knowledge and training in diabetes.
